Economic Impact On Sabah & Sarawak
Indonesia is in the process of creating a new city known as Nusantara, located in Kalimantan. Nusantara is expected to become the new capital of Indonesia, replacing Jakarta. This action is taken as Jakarta is currently congested with a very high population and also suffers from traffic congestion. With the relocation of the capital, Indonesia hopes to redistribute economic activities to other areas. Kalimantan was chosen because there are still many undeveloped areas.
Impact On Electricity
The construction of Nusantara will require a new supply of electricity. Sarawak can seize this opportunity to supply electricity to Nusantara. Kalimantan is currently also importing electricity from Sarawak. However, the electricity demanded by Nusantara is not ordinary power, but green energy produced by clean sources. This is not a problem as Sarawak is known for its hydro energy potential.
Impact On The Construction Industry
The construction of Nusantara will open many opportunities in the construction industry in Sabah and Sarawak. However, this can only be successful if the infrastructure and road networks in Sabah and Sarawak are improved. Therefore, infrastructure in both states must be a priority if we want to benefit from the development of Nusantara. Here, the Pan Borneo Highway will play a crucial role. Meanwhile, other linkages can be connected through the Trans Borneo Highway, which is expected to be completed within the next 10 years.

Impact On The Development Industry
The development industry in Sabah and Sarawak also has great potential. For example, with the development of Nusantara, the demand for construction materials such as cement, bricks, and construction iron will increase, providing an opportunity for the development industry in Sabah and Sarawak to meet this demand.
The development of Nusantara will bring many opportunities and positive impacts to the economies of Sabah and Sarawak, especially in the energy and construction sectors. However, to ensure this success, the improvement of infrastructure and road networks in both states must be a priority.
